Word Search for Kids
This page opens our word search in Easy mode, which we designed with younger players in mind. The grid is only 8×8, there are seven words to find, and every word reads the normal way – left to right or top to bottom. There are no diagonal or backwards words to cause frustration.
Themes use everyday vocabulary such as animals, pets, fruit, the farm, the weather and shapes, so children practise reading and spelling familiar words while they play. Press New puzzle for another grid at any time.
How kids play
- Look at the word list under the grid.
- Find the first letter of a word, then drag a finger (or the mouse) to its last letter.
- When the word is right it turns colored and is crossed off the list.
- Find all seven words to finish – then try to beat your best time!
Tips for parents and teachers
- Read the theme aloud first and ask children to guess which words might be hidden.
- Let beginners point at each letter as they read along a row.
- When Easy feels simple, move on to Normal, which adds diagonal words.
- The game works on tablets and interactive whiteboards with touch.

What age is this word search for?
Easy mode suits most children who can read short words, roughly from age 6 upwards, and it is also a relaxed option for adults.
Are there any hard words?
The words are everyday nouns from the theme. A few themes include longer words, but none are hidden backwards or diagonally in Easy mode.
Do kids need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no chat; best times are saved only on the device.
